Typeface: American Typewriter

This book is an exploration of text formatting, inspired by Nanotales by Ziv Navoth, a work characterized by minimal hierarchy and justified paragraphs set in the American Typewriter typeface. These elements sparked my interest and became the foundation of my own typographic way.

To expand on this idea, I integrated the Same Sizer script from the Alternative Layout System. The script builds on the logic of monospaced typefaces by aligning not just individual characters but entire words vertically, so that each word, regardless of length occupies the same horizontal space. While American Typewriter already emphasizes uniform character width, I wanted to extend that uniformity to word level, resulting in a structured, balanced layout.

The script didn’t accommodate punctuation like dashes, which led me to make manual adjustments to maintain alignment. By refining the spacing and ensuring each word fit within the grid, I was able to preserve the visual rhythm I aimed for.
